Cosmic Laughing

Really? Are you kidding me?

After going through the miscarriage last year and having time to really just appreciate my family for they way it was, Kevin and I came to the conclusion that we were okay with things the way they are. Two boys. Perfect. We are all okay.

Then bam! Out of the blue...I am pregnant. Currently at 13 weeks. Baby is strong and healthy. I have already had 3 ultrasounds. So weird to be considered at advanced maternal age due to me being 35 when the baby is born. However, it is pretty cool to see the baby so often.

We did not tell anyone about this new baby until now. Not even the boys knew until Sunday. I am a touch paranoid and of course I really do not have a physically easy pregnancy. I am blessed that for the most part every bad feeling I have is "cosmetic." I do no have any real health issues, for me or the baby. Being sick all day, every day is awful. This time I am not taking any anti-depressants as I have been off medication for well over a year now. Depression is terrible and insidious. I think I may be turning the corner.

Now to the really funny part...

Kevin and I did a lot of talking and thinking over the last year. We decided that what was best for all of us was to not have any more kids. I started giving away all the baby clothes, most of my baby furniture sold at consignment. Kevin had a vasectomy in December.

Again, really?

So, I have determined that my sense of control over my life is actually a very pretty illusion. There are greater forces out there at work. Kevin's procedure was about 3 weeks too late...I was already pregnant. Good for him we did not know that at the time. Now knowing what all is entailed I am not too sure he would be so quick to agree.

There you have it...an auspicious start for who will be our youngest and very last baby.

Congratulations, Ashley(& Kevin)! Glad to hear that you and the babe are doing good! Funny thing about life ... just when you think you have all the answers, life changes the questions! (quoted by your Aunt Laura many years ago!) I'm excited for you all! Is Pappi going to have to get a BIGGER vehicle????

Love you much!

You may not know this, but John Michael was our "sweet surprise." We thought we were done too. Gotten rid of the baby stuff, taking precautions, etc. As my mom said when I told her that Brooke and Daniel had been "planned", she said "you just thought they were planned, now you know Who has been in charge all along."

And I was 35 when I had JM.

I'm so very happy for you, Ashley. And Kevin. And Kyle and Todd.

No, my first spoken thought after I found out was.....boy, am I ever glad I got the CX-9 and not the CX-7. For at least a few years I will have four kid seats (of all sizes) in my vehicle. I am just blown away by the wonderful news of this new baby because it was so unexpected. But, like I said with Zane, God is in charge and only He knows what is to be and what is best.

"My sense of control over life is actully a very pretty illusion."
I love that phrase and may steal it for my blog page. I don't know if you noticed, but my blog address is imaginedcontrol.com so it would be quite apt.
I am thrilled with your news! Congratulations to all of you. Can't wait to see this little one. I will love a little boy, but I have to say I am pulling for a little girl.....: )

SOOOOOOO happy for you all!!!! This is great news and we are excited as well!!! I, too, like Aunt Laura will be pulling for a little girl, but healthy will be key! Little boys are so much fun, well, most of the time! :) Congrats to all, especially Pappi---this is wonderful!!!! Hope each day gets better for you, Ashley, and I will keep you in my prayers.

I'm thrilled for all of you, and I know K&T must be so excited. They are so sweet and loving toward Zane and Alyssa...I can only imagine how much they will love their baby brother or sister! :) Beyond that, I'm excited to be an Auntie again, and I'm excited that Zane will be a "big cousin" to a baby cousin. Let me know when I can accompany you to MFM...I loved that part. xo
